Don’t let Brake Safety Week Break Your Supply Chain
CVSA Brake Safety Week August 22-28
We pride ourselves on the safe service that we are able to provide to our customers. Safety is first in our mission statement and our priority. This commitment is why we support the diligent efforts of the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) to keep the roads both safe for drivers as well as the general public.
CVSA’s 2021 Brake Safety Week begins August 22-28. During this annual blitz, both CVSA and law enforcement representatives work to inspect the brake systems of commercial vehicles and provide educational outreach to prevent brake failures.
Of the 43,565 total commercial vehicles inspected during the 2020 CVSA Brake Safety Week, 12% were placed out of service for brake-related violations. Though the percentage of vehicles in violation continues to decrease annually, (12% in 2020 down from 13.5% in 2019) the number of commercial vehicles on the road with brake system violations is cause for concern and continued inspection and educational efforts.
Safety and Service that’s Profitable
In addition to safety concerns, non-compliant vehicles being placed out-of-service can create major supply chain disruptions. This is something that neither ourselves, our maintenance facility partners nor our clients can afford. As Brake Safety Week approaches, we take several steps to ensure that our team is operating at the highest of safety standards while providing the best possible service to our clients.
These measures include:
– Thorough brake system safety checks on all transport vehicles
– Driver education on vehicle maintenance and CVSA safety standards
– Multi-point vehicle inspections before and after each route
We appreciate the work that CVSA is doing to limit brake system failures and collisions on our roads. When preparations are made and safety is a priority, CVSA Brake Safety Week is just another week.
